A spreadsheet is enough if you log one compound on a simple schedule and are comfortable building your own formulas. A dedicated peptide tracker app is the better choice once you have **several vials, a site rotation to follow, or doses you tend to forget**, because it adds reminders, a body map and inventory tracking that a spreadsheet does not have.

## Side by side

| | Spreadsheet | Notes app | Tracker app |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Log a dose | Open file, add row | Type a line | A few taps |
| Date and time | Typed by hand | Typed by hand | Filled in |
| Reminders | No | No | Yes |
| Injection site | A text column | Free text | Body map |
| Vial inventory | A second sheet | No | Built in |
| Remaining supply | Your own formula | No | Shown per vial |
| Expiry dates | A column you must check | No | Stored per vial |
| Charts | You build them | No | Built in |
| Export | It already is a file | Copy and paste | CSV export |
| Cost | Free | Free | Free to download |

## Where a spreadsheet wins

- **Total control.** Any column, any formula, any chart.
- **Nothing to learn** if you already live in spreadsheets.
- **Your data is already a file.**

## Where a spreadsheet falls down

- **It does not remind you.** A log cannot prompt a dose you forgot.
- **It is awkward on a phone.** Logging happens standing at the fridge, not at a desk. Friction is what leads to skipped entries.
- **Two sheets drift apart.** Doses in one tab and vials in another only stay in step if you update both every time.
- **Site rotation is hard to see** in a column of text.

## What a tracker app adds

A dedicated app links the pieces. In PepVault:

- The [dose log](https://peptidetracks.com/features/dose-log) fills in the date and time and offers your recent peptides as one-tap chips.
- The [vial inventory](https://peptidetracks.com/features/vial-inventory) keeps strength, lot number, expiry and remaining supply for every vial.
- [Schedules and reminders](https://peptidetracks.com/features/dose-reminders) put today's doses on the home screen.
- The [injection site tracker](https://peptidetracks.com/features/injection-site-tracking) is a front and back body map.
- [Progress](https://peptidetracks.com/features/progress-tracking) charts weight, body fat and waist.

## You do not lose the spreadsheet

Choosing an app does not mean giving up your own file. PepVault [exports your dose history as CSV](https://peptidetracks.com/features/csv-export), which opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. You can log in the app and still analyse in a spreadsheet.

## A reasonable rule

- One compound, one vial, once a week, and you never forget: a spreadsheet or the notes app will do.
- More than one vial, more than one dose a week, or a rotation to follow: use a tracker.

## Common questions

### Can I move my spreadsheet history into an app?

You can keep the old spreadsheet as your archive and start logging new entries in the app. Nothing is lost by keeping both.

### Is a tracker app more accurate than a spreadsheet?

It is as accurate as what you enter. The difference is that an app makes entries quicker and prompts you, so fewer get missed.
